25/10/2020: Club Statement

Wakefield

This season, Wakefield AFC has seen an increase in fanatic support and appreciates the dedication to the team and vast and passionate support that often lifts the players’ performances.

While we have begun to earn ourselves a reputation for having an exceptionally committed fan base, we do not wish for this to escalate into an intensely hostile environment for opposition teams and fans.

Wakefield AFC has a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory language, abuse, chanting, and behaviour. It is vital that our community of fans understand that we will not tolerate discrimination.

We find hateful behaviour based on any form of discrimination abhorrent and wholly unacceptable. We are a fully inclusive club and are committed to upholding strong values and eradicating any form of discrimination.

We will take swift and appropriate action should we find any evidence of hateful behaviour, and we will work together to implement anti-discrimination processes and practices, including sanctions and education, where appropriate.

Last season, Wakefield AFC was awarded the Respect Award from the Central Midlands League, and we wish to maintain this good standard as we navigate throughout this new season.

A message from our club chairman, Chris Turner:

“We have formed a football club to represent the city of Wakefield. In recent games, there has been some incidents off the field of play that the club want to stamp out.

“Wakefield AFC will not tolerate unruly behaviour of any sort, home or away, and we want families to come and enjoy the match day experience in safety and comfort. Anyone in the future causing any sort of trouble will be banned from the stadium.

“If anyone has any problems in future, please inform us so we can deal with it instantly.”
